- Willie Beatrice Kiser passed away on Tuesday, February 27, at the age of 99. Willie B. was born in Mason on July 17, 1907, one of 11 children of William Oliver Brown and Dorathee Wilhelm. She attended school in Fredonia and graduated from Mason High School where she played tennis doubles with her cousin Lillie Mae Wilhelm. Lillie passed away last week at the age of 98. Willie lived in the Fredonia area of Mason County and then in the Blue Mountain area in southern Mason County. On February 21, 1948, she married Ted Kiser. They made their home at the ranch in the Blue Mountain Community. They worked together side by side on the ranch until 1985 when they moved to Fredericksburg due to Ted's failing health. Willie loved her nieces and nephews and enjoyed having them come to visit. She was a talented, hard-working woman who like to cook, sew and work in the garden as well as can the bounty of her garden. She was a member of the College Street Church of Christ in Junction and then the Fredericksburg Church of Christ. Willie donated her time as a member of the Home Demonstration Club and also served as a 4-H leader. She loved music and enjoyed playing the fiddle and the piano. Willie B. is survived by her sister Helen Doris Peril of Harper and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986 and by the following brothers and sisters: Wallace Brown, Ervin Brown, Evalena Miller, Estella Whitworth, Moses Brown, Edith Whitewood, Sylvenous Brown, Clinton Brown and Van Chester Brown. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 1, at 10:00 a.m. in the Beckmann Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jim Barker officiating. Graveside services and interment followed in the Gooch Cemetery in Mason at 12 noon. Serving as pallbearers were Tom Pickens, Ernie Gabriel, Bill Meeks, Kelly Gabriel, J.P. Gabriel, Will Pickens and Kolt Meeks. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Brown, V.C. Whitworth, Van C. Brown, William Brown, Ken Whitewood, Brown Whitewood, Charles E. Brown, Bob Reeves, J.M. Reeves, Bobby Barr and Ricky Hall. Memorials in honor of Willie may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg or to the charity of one's choice.
