Cody C. Cardwell


Cody C. Cardwell, 83, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Hill Country Care Center of Junction. He was born in Christoval on November 29, 1920, to Mildred and 0. W. Cardwell and was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church.
His funeral services were held August 2, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church and interment was at Copperas Cemetery with Rev. Scott Bradford officiating.
Cody was a beloved husband, dad, granddad and brother. He was known as "Pop" to his grandchildren (along with all of their friends) whom he doted on and loved dearly.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and often mused, "I walked from France to the Rhine River!" Cody was a longtime rancher with a keen sense of humor. His family and friends will tell you, "He was a tough ole cowboy who would give you the shirt off his back."
Cody is survived by his wife, Millie; one son, Dudley Cardwell and wife, Alice, of Abilene; three grandchildren, Jayme Cardwell and wife, Suzanne, of Geogetown; Denise Krieger and husband, Paul, of Kingwood; and Janet Davis and husband, Doug, of Rawlings, Wyoming; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Cherry and Sarah Harrison and husband, Larry, of Junction.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Pall bearers were A. J. Ivy, Sherry Nall, Walter Dedeke, John Cashman, Charles McGuire, and Rob Roy Spiller.
Honorary pall bearers were C. W. Schaefer, Jr., Joe Parker, Blake Chenault, Jim Sherman, Kennon Stapp, and Ed Dayton.

Edna Mae Anderson


Edna Mae Anderson, 96, of Junction, died Monday, August 2, 2004, at the Hill Country Care Center in Junction.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo, with Morris Cook officiating.
Survivors include two sons: King Ransom of Ingram and Lewis Ransom of Junction. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Sidney Albert Nicholson


Sidney Albert Nicholson, Jr., 82, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2004. He was born on December 28, 1921, in Mason, the youngest child of Sidney A. and Alice Ritter Nicholson, Sr.
After graduating from Mason High School, Sidney joined the Armed Forces serving in the Army engineers stateside and in Siapan throughout World War II.  While stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, he met Marjorie Ward while she was working for the American Red Cross on the post.  They married on December 24, 1944, at Sunset Baptist Church in Mt. Home.
Following his military duty in 1946, Sidney worked for a short time at Ranchman's Wool & Mohair Warehouse in Ingram and operated a grocery store in Hunt before joining T. J. Moore Lumber and Hardware in Ingram.  He started in the bookkeeping department; however when the opportunity came for Moore's to purchase a General Electric appliance franchise, he persuaded the company to establish a furniture and appliance department.  
Sidney was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  His favorite pastime at family gatherings was to tell funny stories about the children and grandchildren.
He served as the president of the newly organized Hunt-Ingram Lions Club from 1947-1948.  Sidney worked tirelessly on fundraisers for the Lions benefiting the building of the Texas Lions Camp.  
Sidney is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Marj Nicholson; two daughters, Darla Nicholson of Austin and Mindy Nicholson Wendele, of Kerrville; two grandchildren, Meredith Wendele, of San Antonio and Justin Travis of Mt. Home; one great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Les Nicholson, Brooks Nicholson, Clarence Nicholson and sister, Velma Sperlich.
Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, July 31, at 9 a.m. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.  A memorial service followed at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville.
Honorary pallbearers were nephews Morris Dean Nicholson, Rocky Free Nicholson, Marvin Cunningham and Willie Cunningham and Mark Anderson, Gilbert Felfe, Jack Groff, Don Hainlen, Bill Johnston, Jack Moore, Keith Nall and John Wendele.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville or the Hill Country Youth Ranch.  
Arrangements were under the direction of Kerrville Funeral Home.
