Walter Jones Johnson was born August 29, 1928 in High Plains, Kentucky. He married Doris Jean Horsley on December 8, 1951. He passed away November 11, 2003, in Junction where he had lived for the past year and a half. Walter joined the United States Air Force December 13, 1950. After serving his country for twenty-four years, he retired June 30, 1974. He received several commendations and medals. Walter spent the last four years of his service career as a recruiting officer at Angelo State University. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother, Lloyd Johnson. Walter is survived by three sons, Walter Johnson and wife, Becky, of Junction, Larry Johnson of Hereford and David Johnson of Amarillo; one daughter, Shirley Dunn of Lakeland, Florida; two brothers, Ronnie Johnson and Darrell Johnson both of Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Donny, Wayne, Clifford, Telena, Desiree, Sabrina, Heather and Heath. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren. Our “Pappa” will be greatly missed. Lucy Ann Ball, 96, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003. Lucy was born in Lexington on November 4, 1907. Graveside services were held at Junction Cemetery on Friday, November 14, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ron Van Der Weert of the First Baptist Church of Rocksprings officiating. She is survived by one daughter, Geneva Ann Guthrie of Rocksprings; one son, R.V. Ball of Clarksville, Tennessee; one grandson, James Warren Guthrie of LaGrange and one granddaughter, Katherine Ann Wilson of Johnson City. Other survivors include seven great-grandchildren, David and Dana Wilson, Michael Guthrie, Nicki Guthrie, Jason Guthrie, James Hobbs and Kally Hobbs. Services were under the direction of Crofts Funeral Home of Johnson City. Nolan F. McBee, 74, of Radium Springs, New Mexico, died Monday, November 10, 2003. He was born December 21, 1928, in Segovia, to John McBee and Jewel Bowers McBee. Nolan was a retired hearing aid specialist; he owned Crosby Hearing Aid Service. He was also a jack-of-all-trades and a master of most. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Nolan is survived by his mother, Jewel Stewart, of Radium Springs, New Mexico, two daughters, Linda Kordizkowski and husband, Bob, of Chico, California and Beth Duff and husband, James, of Radium Springs; grandchildren Paul Kordizkowski, Bob Kordizkowski and wife, Lisa, Michele Bartlett and husband, Jerry, Judy Mendes and husband, Jorge, Cindy Medeiros and husband, Brian, James Schmidt and Sheila Bennett and husband, Israel; great-grandchildren Jessica and Zane Medeiros, Emily Jewel, Jerry Bartlett III, Christopher and Sarah Bartlett, Jessica, Erin and Reese Kordzikowski, Justin and Jared Mendes. Nolan was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille McBee, and second wife, Fran Crosby McBee. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 14, at Getz Funeral Home.
