Funeral services were held September 11, at 10 a.m. under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home of Menard, with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. Suzanne Brantley officiated. Inez was born February 7, 1925, in Kimble County to Thomas Jefferson and Lilly McKenna Wooten. She married Ray Benton on July 9, 1944. She was a Methodist and worked as a secretary and office manager. She was a retired employee of Heritage Funeral Home and Metropolitan Life. She is survived by two sons, Ray Owen Benton and wife, Judy, of San Angelo and David Benton of San Antonio; one daughter, Patricia Bir and husband, Tony, of San Antonio; one granddaughter, Andrea Bir of Bosier City, Louisiana; one grandson, Marc Bir and wife, Lisa, of San Angelo; one great-granddaughter, Gabriella Bir; one great-grandson, Samuel Ray Bir of San Angelo; one sister, Yvonne Parker, and husband, John, of Junction; Peggy Decker, JoAnn Crowell and husband, Mickey, Norma and Daniel Murray; Laverne and Jim Bob Benton; Joy Faye Benton all of Menard; Lawrence and Edna Benton of Mason; sisters-in-law, Zenobia Wooten and Dixie Wooten of Junction; Doxie Wootan, Barbara Wooten of Bryan/College Station, numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Benton; brothers, Pat, JD, Frank, Don, and Charlie Wooten; sisters, Alberta Nelson and Bertha Kothmann. The family requests donations or memorials to the Menard Library Fund or the charity of your choice. |
