Two people from Pampa are behind bars in the Kerr County jail after leading seven law enforcement agencies on a chase through west Kerr County ranch lands.
Joshua Lloyd Mullen, 21, and Rachell Lynn Daniels, 20, were arrested for attempted burglary of a habitation. According to the Kerr County Sheriff’s office, Mullen, who has an extensive criminal history, is being held without bond. He also has three felony warrants out of Potter and Gray counties.
Late last Friday, Cindy McFarland notified Chief of Police Steve Brown that her vehicle had been burglarized while it was parked in front of Johnny’s Exxon, 1014 Main. McFarland provided information about the suspects, their vehicle and the direction of travel. Chief Brown relayed the information to Kimble County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Moreno. The Kimble County Sheriff’s office contacted Kerr County Sheriff’s deputies to help with the pursuit of the pair.
Mullen and Daniels entered the Love Ranch, adjacent to the Y.O. Ranch in Mountain Home, crashing through numerous fences and gates on a 25-miles stretch of ranch land. Damages to fences and gates are estimated to be thousands of dollars.
Officers searched by ground and air, but the initial search was called off early Saturday morning.
A homeowner in the Y.O. Ranch called to report two suspects attempting to break into her home and with the assistance of a neighbor, the subjects were held until Kerr County deputies arrived and placed them under arrest.
Officers began to search for the suspects’ truck, which was determined to have been stolen from Pampa. Because of his knowledge of the area, Chief Brown joined in the search from the DPS helicopter that had been brought in from Austin. When the Ford F-100 was discovered in a thicket, McFarland identified her property that had been stolen the evening before.
Additional charges may be pending against the couple after the official investigation is complete.
Mullen and Daniels were both taken to Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville and where they were treated for severe methamphetamine use, according to Kerr County Sheriff’s office.
Agencies involved in the search were Kerr County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, DPS helicopter from Austin, Ingram City Marshall’s office, Junction Police Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission and Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department. Kerr Co. Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Carol Twiss said a large number of area ranchers and homeowners were also involved in the search.
